Going back to "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine Who's voting the citizen or the address?
-
-
-
Given the huge bias the Founders gave to land over people in Senate elections and the Electoral College, I'm going to say "the cows."
-
Unfortunately
-
Wait... I thought U.S. Senators were elected by their state legislatures and not by popular vote until the early 1900s?
-
That evolved over time I read about it in a book about the 1800 election battle between Jefferson and Adams Not sure of the details at this point But Jefferson was pushing for popular vote and some states (southern) chose to go with popular vote others stuck with legislature
-
But, according to the U.S. Senate website, Oregon was the first state to elect Senators by popular vote in 1907 and other states followed suit with 29 states electing Senators by popular vote in 1912?

Manifest Destiny is alive and doing well, and is only the beginning. Watch-out everybody who's not a White man or women. The entire Universe is in danger. ...

Haven't we screwed the Native Americans enough already?

R's have been manipulating elections for years. This time they actually get the Supreme Court to rubberstamp it.

Obviously......the members of the S.C. who voted this way...have NEVER lived on a reservation or other area that really doesn't use "street addresses"
-
Okay, here is where my questions come in. On a reservation, how are residences listed? And how can this issue be fixed?
-
As indicated in the article.... most people have P.O. boxes for mailing addresses. If you go to the town and ask where someone lives physically, you get a physical description like "two houses north of the rec center"
-
Thank you for the information. I missed it. There has to be a way to fix this

Animus with this law was so obvious; despicable that the Supreme Court would allow this horrific law to be enacted.
