Failed to mention the biggest challenge of all: Abuse. If a "censorship-resistance social media" means the governing bodies can't censor abusers, and block/remove abusive content, then it's not even worth starting.

Yeah someone has to do something bc this censorship is getting ridiculous. !

But the more they censor, the more demand for decentralized platforms, the faster the industry develops. If centralized platforms are ran well, then there is less demand to change. It works both ways.

Many are already doing this, & are fine tuning the challenges you mentioned - as it is tricky.
@SteemNetwork,@DTube_Official,@3speakonline etc on the Steem blockchain as well as projects like@LBRYio and mastodon just to name a few. Perhaps we need more collaboration. -

@blockstack has the best head start on building a decentralized social media platform. A key issue is who pays for the infrastructure? Twitter isn’t cheap to operate. -
