In #Delaware, #Iowa, #Nebraska, and #Utah, almost 1 in 2 currently uninsured people who could be buying Marketplace coverage will be able to get a $0 bronze plan in 2019.
But, will they even know this is an option?

Bronze plans have high deductibles & many ppl are better off w/ Silver But the math is simple: $0 bronze >> uninsured Bronze plans have $0 preventive services, often a few Dr visits pre-deductible, & make it more likely to get non-emergency care even if you can't pay deductible

If you are wondering whether you might qualify for a free or low cost health plan, go to http://healthcare.gov . The deadline to sign up is just a few days away: December 15.

Even if you’ve applied for
#ACA Marketplace coverage in the past and been told you weren’t eligible for help or would have to pay a high premium, it’s still worth checking again. Each year, you have to go back on http://healthcare.gov and shop to know your options.Show this thread

But isn't a "bronze plan"
#Obamacare still uninsured? Could the 99% afford a week in a hospital with such "insurance" - or would copays and deductibles mean that 1/5 of broke still is broke? -
Fair point. The out of pocket costs are steep for most -- but total out-of-pocket costs were capped last year at $7,350 for individuals and $14,700 for families.

I believe
@bjdickmayhew calculated that about 1/4 of uninsured could also get gold for less than benchmark silver. -
Last year, and probably this year, I went with the Gold. The deductible was $800. One Silver plan deductible is $0, but the copays for MRIs is $600. Since I have 2 brain MRIs a year the Gold is better (10% coinsurance). It's just a risk if the cancer comes back bc oop is $5000

So, in other words, you’re functionally uninsured until you reach the deductible. If you’re having trouble paying the premium, what’s the difference having to pay for any service? It’s still coming out of your pocket, right?
