This extends beyond the game industry! I am currently a postdoctoral researcher on a project involving e-beam lithography to produce graphene-based field-effect-transistor devices. I had no experience with graphene. I had no experience with e-beam lithography.
I had some *vaguely* parallel microfabrication experience. I was deeply up-front with all of this, but also pointed out how my previous postdoc was wildly different from my PhD research...

When I first started my career I didn't have a degree but I was decent at programming. I was told, "I don't hire people without degrees," so to get my foot in the door I asked the guy to pay half my asking-price for 6 months to try me out, then once I prove myself, fully hire me.
That guy took a chance with me (even though I had to show him a path to mitigate his risk). It's nice to see you guys taking a chance and giving this writer an opportunity. Who knows what that writer will go on to produce because you gave them the opportunity to succeed.
There's a position for a CM for spanish speakers at certain studio but the job is in europe and because my country has been the worse handling the pandemic the EU ban us for enter any country. I asked if can be remote but I got no answer. and it's one of my life goals :(
