Apple/Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention is a mechanism intended to improve privacy. It was found to have privacy vulnerabilities allowing sites to track the user (and fingerprint), and to stealing web browser history of a user. Incredible find.

Pseudonymous data are *not* anonymous, as countless studies and re-identification cases have shown. No need to rewrite the GDPR. 🙄

India wants to ban privacy research. This is bad. Specifically, the final version still speaks of reidentification ban without any exception to researchers. This will reduce security and privacy in society in general - but also inhibit legitimate research.

Today filed a GDPR complaint in France against a website that: - asks for 'consent' to share personal data with 102 companies - if users 'consent', the site actually allows 431 companies to receive data - if users de-select every single firm, the site transmits data anyway

In academia, your name is your brand. In a game of reputation, that’s everything. Having your name be known in the community is how your get invited to talks, how people look you up to cite your papers, and how they decide whether your job application is worth a serious look.

Today I want to take a break from sharing research to share a personal story instead. It’s a story about my name, why I once decided to quit academia, why I came back, what I learnt from it, and why I’m grateful to have an audience here on Twitter.

Lors d'un échange sur LCI, Alain Finkielkraut est sorti de ses gonds et m'a interpellée : "Je dis aux hommes : violez. D'ailleurs, je viole ma femme tous les soirs". Ces propos se voulaient ironiques ? Oui. Est-ce quand même un problème ? Oui aussi. ⤵️
