One day left! We’re doing another round of Certified Training this Fall. Apply before 9/16 to be considered. We’d love to see some community-minded individuals who are motivated to start things. Music by
karma~ 1.6 is now live in the @cycling74 Package Manager. It adds M1/UB support (as well as Windows still) and is largely modernized with mc.karma~, proper reference/documentation, and a small handful of new features.
Time to granulate with this week's Max 8.3 Starters patch "jangler"
This uses mc.snowphasor~ to drive a simple granular playback engine with a lot of room for exploration and experiments.

Included in the download are a solo version (above) and this 2-voice version for the full adventure game theme. Lots of ways to expand this idea to build generative music machines.
Wild timbre morphing in this week's Max 8.3 Starter patch. Here we have mc.generate~ running alongside MC Wrapper messages to generate playback control of a bank of loops.
Download the patch to try it->

Be sure to dive into the Launch patcher after installing for links to examples, plentiful documentation, and educational/inspirational materials from the project.
"FluCoMa introduces a suite of tools to Max that can help you work with sounds and collections of them in new and flexible ways. Possibilities include slicing, decomposition and hybridisation of sounds, audio-descriptor analysis and machine learning driven musicking."
You might notice now that @flucoma is available on the Max package manager . Big thanks to @cycling74, especially @jinpavg and Isabelle Kaspriskie for being so supportive in the process and welcoming contributions to the ecosystem.
Go grab it!
If you haven't looked at his ongoing "Forester" patch/software, it is well worth a look for some inspiring ideas, especially his use of [nodes] as a central UI.

Yesterday we made our own Max recording patch. What if you just want to play around for awhile and only capture the most recent 5 seconds of audio?
The sfrecord~ object has a new "loop" message that only writes the length of the loop to disk.
More in the audio-rate ratcheting realm ___ enhanced sample accuracy here by leveraging the new MSP objects [table~] & [mc.midiplayer~] to generate audio-signal midievent messages that we run into [vst~]

Ever wanted to build your own "Quickrecord" style patch? It's easier than you might think. Just copy/paste a few things from the adoutput~ help patch and customize…
You can also swap out the record toggle for a bright red [led] and add some textbuttons to give yourself a friendlier UI. Take some time to make it your own, and go open up some patches.
