it might have sounded like I was the only one saying that, but I meant as an actual cliché, which I picked up from the groups I partake in

One of the PCs decided it would be fun to manipulate the NPCs into going meta
-
I'm loath to be a humourless pedant, but, seeing as the programmers and not the PCs manipulate the NPCs, the metaphor doesn't strictly hold. Still, it makes for a good tweet. And yet who are the programmers if PCs don't manipulate things? Are they another step or more above?
-
Sorry but you're just wrong about this. Plenty of games are based around manipulating the NPCs in one way or another, and far more let you manipulate the NPCs regardless of what the programmers originally intended.
-
I'm not a loathsome gamer so I wouldn't know. I have too much playing in more real arenas to do. In any case, the programmers set the parameters for how much NPCs can be manipulated though, am I right? So ultimately they have more control over what NPCs say, do, and "think?"

Lmao this would be slightly more convincing if it were possible that 1) I am ever a "troll;" and 2) one could be "educated" about gaming.
