We're launching our policy on synthetic and manipulated media today. Grateful to all the NGOs, academics and experts who provided feedback to improve this policy and inform our approach.

99 smartphones are transported in a handcart to generate virtual traffic jam in Google Maps. Through this activity, it is possible to turn a green street red which has an impact in the physical world by navigating cars on another route!

This evening’s ⁦⁩ debate on Martyn’s Law, promoted by the amazing ⁦ . My take: go easy on the small venues, don’t just focus on terrorism, and let’s hope we can keep hopping on buses and running for trains.

This is massive, and not just for the UK. If EU granted UK 3rd-country adequacy, they might keep the UK within a GDPR-esque system, which in turn forces (eg) US companies who do plenty of business in the UK to implement those standards. UK divergence weakens EU on this issue.

I can safely say that in 22 years of being a political journalist, I've never experienced a day like today. No.10 sources now insisting that political editors like myself "are not banned, they are just not invited".

Whooa! It's one thing to think anti-vaxxers, homeopaths etc are completely wrong; it's quite another to criminalise the expression of their beliefs.

"the shocking influence of lawyers on policy" Good luck, Number 10, in translating your policy whims into enforceable provisions without lawyers You are welcome to try The truth is that it is not lawyers but law that is influencing policies - the law made by, well, politicians
