From the videos of the Streatham incident, the man was shot by plainclothes officers. I await the armchair commentators to now complaining how he wasn't shot before he attacked anyone. Put yourselves in those officers shoes.

Yup, few folks seem to consider the psychological impact of ending another persons life in the line of duty. PTSD isn’t restricted to war-zones and army units. Not to mention, the general upheaval that officer now goes through whilst the shooting is investigated.

He won't be having a fun day. Less than 1% of UK firearms officers ever fire their weapon in anger. It has to be horrific.

Not to mention the "should shoot to disarm" crowd
I'm proud of the quality of armed police in this country. They make incredibly difficult decisions in seconds knowing that they will be analysed for years to come. -
I'm not hugely practiced with a handgun, but even at 10m on a range, it's hard enough hitting the person, full stop. Then add adrenaline, movement, and bystanders?

armchair experts forget that actually shooting another human being is very hard to do - it takes a lot of training and conditioning. Being an expert shot at you local club means little. Unless you have been in this situation, you have NO idea what you’re talking about.

Be thankful there are those police able to overcome panic and react

As someone who lives in the USA I am deeply uncomfortable with the assumption that a police officer who has just shot someone could be ethically in the right or deserves any sympathy. Policing in this country is fucked.
