Tip:
If you're using Ghidra as free alternative to IDA Pro (IDA free wouldn't be much of a help, unless target arch is ARM/Intel), don't ignore @radareorg r2. The latter has a steeper learning curve, but allows emulation of code parts thanks to an intermediate language (ESIL)
