Oh yes, Windows is PC... and what about the mac? It's the same thing on it. Ok there is no pro/home version, but it's similar. As a developer, I like UWP, it's not perfect and miss features, but it's really easier for us..

Marketing, automatic update, nice presentation, etc... Security, contact with the author, crossplatform (on MS platform). That's what you get when you buy a UWP apps/game.

I understand that if you only use a Windows PC and nothing else from Microsoft, it's maybe frustrating. But hey, don't worry, buy your Home/pro version and enjoy! Or try Linux it's cool because it's open

It truly amazes me the varied arguments against UWP or the MS store changes, when the counterparts stores have been like that from Day 1. Funnier still, that MS still enable old ways, they aren't restricting, just offering a newer, more secure alternative :S

For me it was the arbitrary restrictions on GPU usage and honestly the ill thought out mess that UWP is. Most professional game developers I know that have to use it want to thump who ever came up with it.

What GPU restrictions? On Windows or on Xbox One? On the latter, it was not "arbitrary" and it's been solved, see https://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2017/09/15/resources-universal-windows-platform-games-fall-xbox-one-update/#e01APAATox47z4IS.97 …. On the former, I'm not aware of restrictions, please let me know otherwise.
