I spent the night on a plantation in an African ancestor's cabin. It was harrowing but changed me. Please read and share.

“Although the sounds initially scared me, they also affirmed that the spirit of the ancestors persists. I took it as their communicating that they felt our presence — and that what took place there was dreadful.” #BlackHistoryMonth

I just read the Warmth of Other Suns:the great migration and your article about staying at that plantation and it is so enlightening. My teenage idol said it in one of his songs: Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud.

This was so moving, I can't imagine how you both felt being there and experiencing this. So many need to read this. Thank you.
