The EU has given a formal warning to France for hunting of protected species & non compliance with Birds directive. But there's no hope to have the current government. My guess? People's taxes will be used to pay the fines, and hunters will be happy.

I doubt it. If France ignores an official warning from the EU, it is unlikely that one country (in or out of it) will have much influence.
