        Yes, this sound terrible, but aren't there term limits in Bolivia as there are in many democracies? Shouldn't all leaders/candidates be subject to those?

        Yes, but the term limits were deemed unconstitutional, to the extent of my knowledge. They didn’t apply at the time that he ran, though I think he did oppose them beforehand, trying to change the law via other means
