My 5yo also has soccer 3 (!) times a week that starts at 5:15pm. Traditional game industry hours would make that nearly impossible for me to attend with him, but right now I can. The world isn’t setup for working parents.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate our “slow” mornings now. Getting kid ready while adults get ready, getting everyone fed and out the door on time….every morning was stressful. I feel the same way. The reality of commuting back to the office full-time is I will be getting home right as my toddler is going to bed. And that's if the subway is running on-time (and not flooded??). Hybrid at least, or bust

I’m considering leaving my job if they don’t go hybrid. And honestly might leave if full remote doesn’t remain an option. The benefit is easily worth 20k a year

Honestly businesses need to consider that some roles and people are just way more productive WFH. Even with my kiddos here with me I get so much more done when people aren’t stopping by my desk to chat every five min.

In my old position at work i asked my former manager for at least 3 months of no over time since my wife had just had a c section . His words were literally " no we just gave you two days off to be at the birth " thise 2 days were Sat/Sun. My schedule is M-F. I was so mad.

aha I was wondering why it's so different (for me it's exactly the same, if not worse because daycare is a bit further from home than previously), but this makes sense! I was very lucky with my old commute and am not looking forward to my new one.

We are also hella lucky because my 5yo's child care is a 30 second walk from our front door. We can see the building he's in right behind our house!

it's been a blessing, overall, ngl. Also having that nice kid time during the day as well, in-between work, even if it means staggering the workday to last a bit longer.
