    Hard conversations don’t have to be mean conversations. They don’t have to take on a detached or authoritarian tone. Holding people to their greatness is perhaps one of the most loving actions we can take. Real accountability isn’t a “gotcha.” It’s an “I see you.”

    Celebrating a month long of African American history! The students are learning sight words, learning about famous African Americans and how they stood and made a change. Students are also discussing ways they can make a change!

    Another day, another great day with students. Our 8th graders have been refurbishing laptop computers that were donated to the school through the VASTAR program. Today, they gave away their hard work to two local groups that will put them to good use. Tomorrow, we start on more.

    So proud of these for giving back by working with our students on their Foster Care impact project!

    We went to thank Dept. of Social Services representatives, Mrs. Boyer and Mrs. Hampton, (Cumberland High School grads) for talking with Dukes Discover students about their Impact Citizenship Project on Foster Care.
