continuing: "engineers" are named so because they actually used to work on engines. nowadays, only about 5% of engineers actually do that. even if coding as we know it disappears in the future, the fundamental principles of development will live on in another form

Same thing in the early 90s BSc CS Software Engineering module our lecturer told us multiple times there wouldn't be a need for programmers in the future because Computer Aided Software Engineering tools would generate code from models. Still waiting.

I once built an Intranet for a large City Government entirely on Frontpage - and created true digital transformation of paper processes into digital processes with zero code using tables and forms and workflows. Really didn’t need any code back then to accomplish great things.
