Liberty Ave Downtown, at least btwn 7th & 9th, would make a nice lil transit mall. More space eases crowding & makes lots of transfer options in a central place (bus map shows future BRT routing. I know there's operations concerns taking P1 all the way down Lib but I like it :3 )

Better bus service is something we could implement quickly if funding were available, using a readily-available and proven technology (i.e. buses). There are lots of cross-town connections we could make/improve, and many crowded bus lines we could improve too

Aerial trams, AVs, etc are all well and good, but perhaps we could leverage a Mobility Authority to fund increased bus service within the City (similar to what Seattle does), where pop is densest and transit can have an outsized impact in promoting a shift to sustainable modes

It's kinda sad, because a lot of people don't realize how already good, and even potentially great, Pittsburgh can be as a non-car orientated city.

The aggressively stupid and totally fringe NeverWarren hashtag is trending because of the people who are pointing out that it’s stupid. Don’t let a few dummies ruin Bernie or Warren for y’all. They are both stellar leaders and humans.

Merchants really never have an accurate idea of how people arrive to their stores. Do not accept anecdotes as data. More people walk/bike/bus than you think. c.f.

Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown: Iran" isn't available on Netflix anymore, but still worth a watch ( should make it available free)

Drivers: ya know what happens when you fail to stop at the Stop Here on Red line and a bus makes a turn nearly hitting your vehicle? The people on the bus watch and are amazed by your lack of driving skills.

Lately I’ve noticed some Democratic politicians defending the current healthcare system by saying it preserves “choice” for Americans. As a former health insurance exec who helped draft this talking point, I need to come clean on its back story, and why it's wrong and a trap 1/11

I have a HARVARD DEGREE in Health Policy AND I am a lawyer. Yet I have struggled mightily to navigate the sys & advocate for myself. I am SO PRIVILEGED & I still ended up sobbing in a hospital lobby last month because of insurance issues and a cash demand for access to my docs.

Thread: Nikki Haley said the Confederate Flag was a symbol of "service and sacrifice and heritage" I was born and raised in SC so I know a little about this. Here is the truth behind that statement:

How can we revitalize walkable, transit accessible neighborhoods and main streets rather the building more in f*cking cranberry (etc)? I know it’s more a problem than just land use and transportaiton (cf: schools, another big funding issue) but

I know eg is privy to this but we need to do more to encode this into our commonwealth’s land use and transportation policies to make it happen

I grew up in a small town outside of where you could walk to basically everything you need within 15 mins, and bus service helped get your farther for work or whatever else. We need to reinvest in these towns (and improve transit) rather than building more new sprawl
