Charlotte Rampling plays the same part in BENEDETTA as she does in DUNE. Not a gripe, merely an observation.

P.S. EMPIRE STRIKES BACK & ROBOCOP 2 director Irvin Kershner played Zebedee in THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. How you like *them* apples?

TGIGF! There’s no bad time to revisit THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, but as more recent sacred/profane auteur flicks go, I will tell you I finally caught up with BENEDETTA and Verhoeven has never been bettah! It’s a $0.99 rental on Apple.

Just did a live event w/ 88-y.o. Apollo 13 Lunar Module pilot “Freddo” Haise. When APOLLO 13-the-movie came up & he recalled touring JSC w/ his onscreen alter-ego Bill Paxton… he pointed out that Paxton was in ALIENS. I held it together. A professional, me.

Gotta admire the apparently instinctive efficiency with which the maskless shitbirds in any bus or Metro car (where masks are still REQUIERRRRRRRRRRED, I rail at the sea) manage to disperse themselves out so they’re impossible to avoid. Great work, vectors.

I’ll be wearing a mask tonight, which is far less of an drag than the immobilizer I was wearing on my leg last time I was there, days before the world shut down. Anyway, if you’re coming to see , do me a kindness and wear one too? Just a mask! Legs free!

I did this again last night and the guest stars were John Turturro and Pam Grier. Best fuckin' show ever, man.

O’Neill Class of ’15 guy here: I’ve been the beneficiary of a couple of intensive criticism fellowships like this, and the O’Neill is the only one that still exists. Worth clearing up two weeks for, no matter what stage of your career you’re in.

Saw THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT* last night from the very! Front! Row! I have learned Nic Cage’s head is truly spherical in that it can be perceived sans distortion from any angle. Neil Patrick Harris? Goes fully Cubist. *It’s no BEING JOHN MALKOVICH but it’s fine.

SCARF down our episode examining a confounding movie with an almost indecipherably MUFFLED soundtrack! It’s a double-barreled BLAST! Something about pursed lips!

In these troubled times I invite you to find succor as I have, in this tender scene of Miami Vice Detective James “Sonny” Crockett filing the claws of his pet alligator, Elvis.

PHONE A FRIEND! Wannabe auteur Alexis Kanner sued 20th Century Fox after DIE HARD hit in ‘88, calling it a “cinematic rape” of his quirky shot-in-’77, long-shelved hostage drama KINGS AND DESPERATE MEN. & I examine the case on !

Just a few months later the same panel reconvened to break some GLASS, which maybe marks Bruce’s last appearance in a real movie, for reasons that have now become tragically apparent. I hope we didn’t say anything about him that now seems unkind.

Probably my favorite I ever got to do was in 2018 when I was invited to talk about a fondly remembered 1988 drama about a marriage on the rocks called DIE HARD. I thought was pranking me. Love you, . In spite of everything.
