The memetic evolution continues. The modification of a see-through fence for soccer addresses the 'Chesterton's fence' critique of the metaphor when it depicted baseball with no outfield fence. Kudos to @abouassi for posting this on his office door! Excellent adaptation! 🧬/2pic.twitter.com/CNPQJw5pn2

with the added bonus that soccer or global football is the most recognized sport for international pedagogy. Nevertheless, the game depicted is nearly irrelevant. What's more important is its analogy for access to resources and participation in society ⚽/3 #pedagogy #memes

Politicians legislate equality b/c it's popular and demonstrable in court, but our shameful history of exploitation demands an equitable correction. Leaders with foresight seek equity today to bend the arc of history toward justice tomorrow ⚖️/4 #equality #equity #justice

I cannot believe the number of times I've seen the two middle panels of this in isolation and never once questioned the fence.

This is interesting…could you provide an example of a ‘fence’ that is currently a systemic cause of inequality today?

Racism, sexism, and classism are examples of systemic causes of inequality. The fence is an analogy for numerous hierarchies of prejudice that block people from accessing resources. In this meme, the fence is also a tangible example of ableism.
