I'm digging in and apparently eggs (frozen, dried, powdered, albumin) were a major chinese export—mostly to europe/US, for baking and confectionary. In the early 1900s, there was a vibrant competition between vertically integrated chinese producers and multinationals.pic.twitter.com/0RyhB3Vn4l

As the depression hit and foreign egg demand fell, domestic producers formed an egg-purchasing cartel to hold down prices and output. During Japanese occupation, Mitsui joined the cartel as well. In 1949, boycotts of China caused the cartel to fall apart.

Likely OP's referring to the China Egg Produce Company (CEPC)—cartel aside, fair to call them a real innovator in supply chain/process efficiency. Hard to trace CEPC post-war—maybe profits, not the business, were inherited? More: https://www.jstor.org/stable/23700274?seq=1 …https://twitter.com/kaymtye/status/1223859683934400512?s=20 …
