As the depression hit and foreign egg demand fell, domestic producers formed an egg-purchasing cartel to hold down prices and output. During Japanese occupation, Mitsui joined the cartel as well. In 1949, boycotts of China caused the cartel to fall apart.

Likely OP's referring to the China Egg Produce Company (CEPC)—cartel aside, fair to call them a real innovator in supply chain/process efficiency.
