The omicron variant is NOT mild.
Hospitalisations are 40-45% less likely than with the delta variant (imperial.ac.uk/mrc-global-inf), but the delta variant is >2x more severe than the original strain (cmaj.ca/content/193/42).
The omicron variant is AT LEAST as bad as the 2020 virus.

Complete waste of time. The sooner European countries realise they are only a couple of weeks behind UK and deal with *domestic* transmission the better it will be for them.

Wir behandeln derzeit auf Station vor allem ungeimpfte Menschen unter 40. Viele hielten ein "gutes Immunsystem" für ausreichend gegen Covid-19. Das Immunsystem ist aber keine "magische Barriere", es braucht zielgerichtete Werkzeuge gegen Erreger, z.B. die richtigen Antikörper.

But that's cos we've had 2 epidemics - 1 declining (B.1.1.7) and 1 growing (B.1.617.2). While B.1.1.7 remained dominant, it masked the growth of B.1.617.2 and kept case numbers down.
