My teammates and I got threatened by some alumni that we would have to find jobs outside of Texas if we didn’t participate.

The way to send a message is to stop having black athletes attend the football program. You better believe once Oklahoma and other big 12 programs start dominating...Texas would change their tune.

Isn't "Has racist origins" different than "is or represents racism"? If we cancel everything that has racist origins, then basically EVERYTHING created prior to the Civil War would be off limits. Not celebrating racism is good. Trying to erase all reminders of racism is toxic.
