It can happen but it’s RTs of a reply you make not of your own tweets.

You start with reply RTs, then quote tweet RTs, then maaaaaybe some hashtag RTs, and once you’ve really made it THEN you get 50 RTs of your own stand-alone tweet. Then you start going platinum on accident and it stops being fun. (Or so I hear.)
