Is the “progressive” vs “centrist” fight in the Democratic Party just “expand the base” vs “appeal to moderates”? Bc I can get with that. I think, though, that it’s “expand the base” vs “appeal to moderates” vs “recapture lower class white voters” which is a little of both.
And specifically with Trump voters, that also means “invite racists back into the party.” And I don’t know how you do that without undermining anti-racist progress.
Anyway, Stacey Abrams represents kind of a pure outreach to non-voters, rejecting both “appeal to centrists” (which is wise bc you’re gonna attract a lot of centrists anyway due to nat’l environment) and “win back the white Trump voters.”
