The minister's speech at the royal wedding sent me back to balm in gilead, Jeremiah 8, where I found in verse 11: "For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace." if that ain't the United States of America...!

The NIV is clearer with "the dress the wound of my people/as though it were not serious," but I love "they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly." Black folks are dying of getting healed slightly.

also let's talk about how Jeremiah has the voice of Israel groaning, as our ancestors groaned in bondage "is there no balm in gilead? is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people." And our ancestors said on faith there IS a balm in gilead.

If God is here, why do I suffer? God is here, so my suffering can't be for long. That's soul, right there.
