Or for that matter, do they understand the position that nonwhite people are human and the expectation that we continue to be saintly and patient with racists or else is itself a key function of white supremacy?

Do they understand that the goal, in the long term, is to create powerful anti-racist norms, such that actively anti-racist public policy becomes possible due to the very radicalization of a certain subset of whites that is the true source of racists' rage?

I guess... I don't understand why anyone seriously thinks we're just going to get out of America's reckoning with race by having everyone hush up and let the racists say their piece? That might accomplish short-term Clintonesque electoral victory, but it won't forward antiracism.
