you go above and beyond either a) to make yourself indispensable to your employer so you can get away with whatever fuckshit is important to you, or b ) to gain skills you know you can take ELSEWHERE for more money. Dassit.

I have never had this happen. What I have had happen is I do more than I am paid to do, pick up additional skills, and then take those skills elsewhere for more money.
