And part of the problem that happens with white men—or anybody privileged—is that so often the fact that they have power in a room forces others to accommodate them despite the fact that they emphatically do not have the range.
In other news... sigh. There is this white man who is a client at work, and he’s often in the room when I’m talking to my brother about whatever political or ethical question, and not only do I have to tone down my discourse for his presence, but he tries to interject.
