Ultimately that ending is a plot contrivance though. Like almost to the point that I feel like it’s lazy writing.

I’m not complaining about what Thanos DID, I’m complaining bc he shouldn’t have been able to do it. My main issue was: where tf was Thor and why didn’t he show up until like 10 minutes after he would have been useful?

I mean like once Thanos shows up, why the hell isn’t that the FIRST place Thor goes, immediately?

Valid, but IIRC wasn't it basically a minute of in-universe time between thanos showing up and fingersnap?

I'm not disagreeing exactly, since basically every movie is a list of plot contrivances. I just find it less of one than, say, every "noble sacrifice" in Rogue One, or each person's individual uses in Ocean's Eleven, etc.

It just felt lazy bc they easily could have given Thor a reason to show up late, like saving a specific person’s life, which would have been in keeping with the themes of the film.
