God Blocked It actually has a pretty similar structure to, eg, “Happiness Is A Warm Gun” with the multi-part structure and all. Where “Happiness” feels like a person darting around to various corners of a room, God Blocked It feels like a young child with a ball only with rhythm.

The energy is like “what does it do if I flip it over? WOW! What does it do if I kick it? WOW! What does it do if I drop it? WOW! What does it do if I spin it? WOW!” Of course it comes with the mastery of an incredibly skilled composer/group of musicians...

But the childlike sheer joy at the fact this one thing can do so many different things is still there alongside the mastery. I really think this song is a masterpiece and like... weirdly in the vein of Stevie’s “As” or like, Coltrane with “fascinating rhythm.”
