So when you say "Beyonce doesn't write her own songs," I hear something akin to "Spielberg doesn't edit his own films," or even, "you know Raphael didn't actually paint that bush."

Shakespeare is another artist who worked far more collaboratively than the Romantic myth of the individual genius would have you believe. And let's not even get into, say, Homer, which is the name we give to what was probably generations of tradition.
