Somebody told me a story about Barbara Bush, where she told a joke and it was the one where a bunch of soldiers jump out of a plane and say “for my people!” til it gets to white and black Americans and the black guy pushes the white one out of the plane and says “for my people!”
I don’t know if this is an example of how self-deprecating and self-aware this lady was or proof that even at the highest levels of power white folks know how rotten they do us and don’t give a fuck about lifting a finger to change it.
Either way, farewell Mrs. Bush. Prayers and comfort to your family. May God have mercy on your soul (and all of us).
