And on one hand that makes it more potentially problematic, but on the other hand, doesn’t that mean the character is in some sense already pan-Asian? Idk, not Asian at all, but when we start getting into Trinidad and south Asian heritage... it’s complex.
But see, this is the part that is complex for me, bc the whole character is a Japanese riff on a Chinese character, and Japan and China have PLENTY of historical (and current) beef.
