Now, of how much value is it for black folks to see ourselves reflected in mainstream white culture, with mainstream white money behind us? Well, given how hard white folks are fighting to stay the center-circumference of American culture, it sure looks like its valuable.
But is it as valuable as, you know, decent, non-crumbling schools for our children, or a functioning justice system? Of course not. But it's hard to say it's nothing.
And I dunno I could be totally wrong I mean we were all over TV in the 80s too. But idk were they just letting you roast white people like that on TV? I feel like the white-approved depictions of blackness were, um, more restrictive than at present?
