So much of American culture is bargains made between straight white men, usually an exchange of status for money, or status to pacify the working class in their exploitation.
From that perspective, a vote for Trump is rational: neither party will contend meaningfully against my exploitation/exploiters, and one party is willing to at least hit pause on the erosion of my cultural status. It's not a good deal, but it might be the best one on offer.

Of course, I don't think that level of economic analysis usually goes into it (partially bc while Dems aren't energizing anybody on fight the rich, if you evaluate fairly, Dems at least have SOME interest in reigning in the rich, unlike Rs.)

But I'm just saying, if one party is full speed ahead on undoing all these cultural status bargains, and the other party wants to go the other way, and neither has really shown an ability to improve my bottom line... it's callous to millions but selfishly, it's right.
