It’s very interesting to watch the social justice-y left coalesce around ethics as the so-called “religious right” flees ethics. The word “wholesome” is being unironically used to discuss things that the religious right would find blasphemous.

I was specifically thinking of tweet going around about how adults should have gender reveal parties, and in the comments people were talking about gender reveal parties for children being unethical, whereas gender reveal parties for adults would be “good and wholesome.”
There’s just something interesting to me about how similar contemporary social justice-y language can look to the language of the religious right circa 2003. Which I think is a good thing as contemporary social justice is a lot about effecting an ethical/ideological shift.
