I think Dot is a really really fascinating role, and not just because of the showy bit where you get to pretend to be an old lady for like two scenes and a song. I think the role is intriguing because of how Dot relates to her own strength.
Against type maybe(?) but I think Patina Miller should play Dot in Sunday in the Park With George.

She's clearly in a socially weak position, not just as a woman, but as an artist's mistress/model/muse. No legal claim, no power, etc. But she's obviously mentally and spiritually the strongest character on stage (both Dot and Marie).

But then she is clearly very weak towards and for this man, George, because she loves him. It's all very Phantom Thread.

Speaking of which, Sunday In The Park With George would be immensely improved by the addition of Cyril. Wholesale. Just drop her in as George's sister and give her a song, no other changes.
