That, but also reacting to assholes who were mean to us about not being black enough when we were like 14 (as much white kids as black ones, actually). A 14 year old will call you an oreo and mean it. Most adults have gotten past that shit, lol.
But when 95% of the black people you've interacted with since you were 14 are either your family or other relatively-assimilated black folks, sometimes you're still extrapolating from those bad experiences when you were much younger.
