Sigh. I constantly feel the need to defend the Democratic Party. I feel like until you live under Republican rule (slash until you know a lot of Republicans) you don’t know how much worse bad can get.

Also like... I get that pure politicking over values is part of how we got Trump, but I don’t understand how you are thinking about politics without thinking about the relative power of various factions within a given coalition. That’s like... what politics is.

Even After The Revolution(™) your political coalition will include people you find objectionable for one reason or another, whose interests diverge from yours in some way. As long as humans continue to be human, it’s the balance of power that matters.
