Like, Adam Rippon really threads a needle for some gays of being like... sexy and muscular and Good at a Sport but also would be assumed to be gay by most people pretty quickly.

Lol y’all stan hard for Adam Rippon. I think it’s bc he is like... very gay and very cool with it. I think folks are just excited bc all our other Visible Gays are either “masculine” and so palatable to straights or clowns and so palatable to straights.

It’s just super interesting to me that we’re at a point in gay male representation that we want an Adam Rippon rather than an NPH or a Don Lemon or an Anderson Cooper, etc.

Re: masculine or clown, Modern Family is the perfect example. Mitchell isn't like super muscular grindr masc, but he could plausibly be a straight nebbish. Cam isn't without humanity, but he's a clown in the way Dre on Black-ish is a clown (or even more heightened).
