Your twitter is one of my favourites and I really admire Ava. I think the film was wonderfully strong on identity and on this alone it's a great kids' movie. This is that's an important thing that wasn't addressed in the Guardian review but I'm sad to say I agree with the review.
A lot of y'all can't rock with Wrinkle In Time bc you fell down on the imaginative work of identifying with a little black girl. A mighty, rich black king? Sure. A little black girl who loves her daddy and her brother to the end of the universe and back? Y'all ain't there yet.

Very sad actually because this powerful book meant so much to me as a kid and the narrative is so watered down that it halfway loses its grasp on the transcendent power of the book. The movie was too shy on demostrating the science that drove the story.
