-ists and -isms may not affect your experience of movies (although I know you're not willing to take that to extremes. Do they affect your experience of Birth of a Nation? Triumph of the Will?), but what about your readers whose experiences ARE affected?

Either a) those readers, if they want a critique that will help them approach the movie, will have to read only critics who share their backgrounds/experiences, or b) critics can learn, through some effort, to see art works through more of the lenses their readers will apply.
