Still trying to imagine what terms might exist which would make integration anything other than the best of a set of bad options.
Like, obviously integration >> segregation as subjugation. But still, as actually practiced in America in 2017 integration has been FULL of pitfalls, both for those allowed to integrate and those kept outside.

And to the extent that material circumstances determine, let’s say, a probability curve of ideology, I wonder if it is ever possible to create a cohesive, unitary worldview with white folks until and unless our circumstances and interests converge.

And like... I would be fine if the whole world was Columbia undergrad where there are spaces that are dominated by particular racial/ethnic/cultural groups, but multicultural respect contextualized by history is a relatively absolute requirement for everybody.

But a) I don’t think that would work for all black folks, and b) I can’t imagine us as a nation ever getting that far even as a nationwide consensus. And anything short of that to me is unacceptable (and even that is problematic.)
