1/Random politics thread, because I'm bored. I think an overlooked reason that social media is making our politics more contentious is that it undoes the "Big Sort", and kills cultural federalism.

Eh. Maybe moreso post-Trump but for a long time bc FB was all former classmates and family, a minority of everyone’s feed was people who had opposing political views. But lately much less so, maybe due to algorithm changes, maybe due to mass unfollowing/blocking.
