Can you name black people who should have been nominated and weren't, and we're nominated but lost unfairly? I doubt you can justify your tweet with enough instances

Spike 100% should have one Best Original Screenplay for Do The Right Thing and should have at LEAST gotten a direction nod.

It wouldn't have won anything because Year Of Titanic but Eve's Bayou should have gotten SEVERAL nods. Best actress for Jurnee, best supporting for Lynn Whitfield, nods for screenplay and direction, etc. IIRC there was some degree of for your consideration push for it too.

(Also I think Eve's Bayou WOULD have gotten nods if it had been released in 2017 rather than 1997, and also Kaci Lemmons would and should have a much bigger career, NOT to say she's done badly for herself at all as is.)

If Robert Downey Jr can win an oscar for Tropic Thunder I think you can 100% make a case for Eddie Murphy in one of the films from his big run getting a nod. (IMHO Coming to America but really take your pic, one or several).

More importantly, if it were "on the table" for Eddie Murphy to make an Oscar bait film in the way it would have been for a white actor, he would have made one, you know? I mean he DID get a nomination for Dreamgirls so clearly he had it in him at his peak as well.
