If Robert Downey Jr can win an oscar for Tropic Thunder I think you can 100% make a case for Eddie Murphy in one of the films from his big run getting a nod. (IMHO Coming to America but really take your pic, one or several).
More importantly, if it were "on the table" for Eddie Murphy to make an Oscar bait film in the way it would have been for a white actor, he would have made one, you know? I mean he DID get a nomination for Dreamgirls so clearly he had it in him at his peak as well.
RDJ didn't win. He was only nominated. Oscars notoriously hardly ever gives nominations for comedic performances. Eddie should have won for dream girls tho
