I need to shut up about black panther but if Wakanda is "a reimagining of what would have been possible if Africa had been allowed to realize itself for itself" as Lupita says, then the myth of Wakanda also invites us to change how we think about history.

If we can imagine that Africa uncolonized and unconquered could by now have reached technological heights higher than the West has, we can free ourselves of the notion that white folks conquered the world due to any kind of superiority, biological, cultural, technological, etc.
