What ethical guidelines should define US military intervention? Just leave everybody alone? But when genocide occurs like in Rwanda or Nazi Germany, isn't it unethical for the US to not intervene?
I really feel like US foreign policy needs a thorough rethinking. We obviously need to recommit to the sovereignty of other nations, including admitting to our crimes re: instigating regime change, etc.

But I also think we need a new framework beyond "every state should ultimately have a Western-style capitalist liberal democracy, and we should intervene to produce that to a greater or lesser extent depending on how stable and compliant the state is."
